Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott has Ended.
The official Left 4 Dead 2 boycott has ended and the Steam group will now finally close on Wednesday October 21st 2009 according to the group’s messiahs Agent of Chaos and Walking Target.
The end of the boycott just before the games release is obviously entirely coincidental and the comments made regarding the games great 4-pack deal will of course not mean we’ll see both these guys playing the game on Day 1.
I can’t help but feel that given they “have made an indelible mark upon the future of this industry”, “no matter what the press or other gamers say” (that’s um, everyone who really cares though right?), that we really need to find other areas where we can use their natural negotiating talents.
So here is the unofficial list of Top 5 Things the L4D2 Boycotters can Boycott next:
1) Logic. The recent announcement clearly states “The comments are always full of trolls” and “people bashing Valve”. This was of course never the intention of the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott group at all where debate about an unreleased product and future yet to be announced updates to an existing one were the main focus. Erm…
2) The L4D2 Official Boycott Resurrection Group. Based on many of the comments from the soon to be deceased group it would appear that not everyone is satisfied with the outcome and some are maybe just a tad bit miffed that their leaders have jumped ship after a nice cosy trip to Valve. Not content with already splitting the Left 4 Dead community once, they have now it seems managed it again. Good job.
3) Tactful Advertising. Because when you leave a group of predominantly pissed off gamers, that’s the best time to advertise your 3rd party websites…
4) Bedtime. If only because I still can’t believe this whole boycott wasn’t run by spoilt children.
5) Left 4 Dead 3. You just know it’s going to happen…
For now though the rest of us can hopefully just concentrate on enjoying Left 4 Dead 2 without all this nonsense. In the words of one of the boycotts members, “THANK GOD THIS GROUP IS DEAD”. Amen.
