Is this the future of game pricing?
As you probably know the folks over at World of Goo decided that they would celebrate the 1st birthday of the title by offering the game for sale for any amount the consumer was willing to pay and, amazingly enough, instead of everyone buying it for $0.01 (though there were quite a few of them, over 16,000) almost 18,000 people paid over $3.00 (and 4 people even paid $50.00, for what reason, I do not know). Seems like a worthwhile experiment to me, even though I’ve never played the game. Will we ever see the day when must-have games will have a similar pricing policy at launch? I mean, if Radiohead can do it with “In Rainbows” then why can’t it happen with GTA V?
